Israeli Airstrike in Southern Lebanon Kills Four
(MENAFN) An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left three others wounded, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, in what officials described as a breach of the existing ceasefire agreement.
Late Saturday, an Israeli drone struck a vehicle on the Doha-Kafarman road in the Nabatieh district, an official news agency reported.
The vehicle was completely obliterated, killing all four occupants. Additionally, two people riding a passing motorcycle sustained injuries.
The strike also caused extensive damage to nearby homes, breaking the windows of dozens of residences in Doha, a largely residential neighborhood, the agency added.
The Israeli military acknowledged carrying out the attack, stating that it had specifically targeted Hezbollah officers.
Tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border have surged in recent weeks, with Tel Aviv conducting more frequent airstrikes in southern towns despite a ceasefire that has been maintained since November 2024.
On the US social media platform X, Defense Minister Israel Katz criticized the Lebanese president for delaying steps toward the disarmament of Hezbollah, a demand Israel has repeatedly made.
He warned, “Hezbollah is playing with fire,” and pledged to escalate military actions if the group’s disarmament is not fully enforced.
So far, there has been no immediate response from either Lebanon or Hezbollah regarding Katz’s remarks.
