Deadly Israeli Airstrikes Hit Southern Lebanon, Dozens Killed and Injured

(MENAFN) A series of Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon overnight Saturday into Sunday left at least 20 people dead and numerous others injured, according to reports and local authorities.

An airstrike in the Nabatieh district claimed seven lives and wounded eight more, while another attack on the village of Henniyeh killed seven people. Separate strikes in Jouaiya and Ebba resulted in additional fatalities, including two paramedics from a local health organization near Bint Jbeil Hospital.

Hezbollah responded by launching rockets and drones at multiple Israeli military positions along the Israel-Lebanon border. The group also fired an air defense missile at an Israeli helicopter over the village of Adaisseh, forcing it to retreat.

Israel reported that one of its soldiers, a U.S.-Israeli national serving in the Paratroopers Brigade, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon. The soldier, Sergeant Moshe Yitzchak Hacohen Katz, 22, hailed from New Haven, Connecticut.

Clashes along the Lebanon-Israel border have persisted since March 2, when Hezbollah fired rockets toward Israel for the first time since a ceasefire agreement in November 2024, prompting intensified Israeli airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
