Israeli Airstrikes Kill Five Civilians in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) At least five people were killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon on Tuesday, as stated by reports.

Three individuals lost their lives and several others were wounded when Israeli warplanes hit a house in the town of Maarakeh, located in the Tyre district. The injured were taken to hospitals in Tyre.

In another incident, an Israeli drone strike struck the town of Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh region, killing one person, according to reports.

Additionally, a separate dawn strike in the town of Zebdine, also in Nabatieh, resulted in one fatality.

Israel has conducted airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, despite a ceasefire that was implemented in November 2024.

The total number of casualties from Israeli strikes since March 2 has reportedly risen to 1,497, with 4,639 others injured.

Hezbollah has launched repeated rocket attacks into Israel since early March, stating that the strikes are retaliation for continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the killing of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28.
