Lebanon Reports Over Thirty Fatalities in Latest Israeli Strikes

(MENAFN) Lebanon's Health Ministry reported Sunday that Israeli strikes over the past 24 hours claimed 35 lives and left 152 people wounded, pushing the cumulative death toll since the conflict began on March 2 to at least 2,055 — with 6,588 total injuries recorded.

Among the dead are 252 women and 165 children, the ministry stated, while 1,120 women and 644 children have sustained injuries since hostilities erupted.

Israeli forces have carried out sustained bombardment campaigns across Lebanon following Hezbollah's cross-border offensive on March 2, itself triggered by escalating regional tensions in the wake of a joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran.

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning, vowing to intensify military operations throughout Lebanon unless Hezbollah is fully disarmed and a peace deal "that endures for generations" is secured.

Diplomatic efforts have, nonetheless, shown tentative signs of life. Lebanon's presidency announced Friday that Beirut and Tel Aviv had agreed to convene their first direct talks in Washington on April 14 — a development swiftly and sharply condemned by Hezbollah.
