Lebanon Reports Heavy Casualties in Israeli Airstrikes Over Past Day

(MENAFN) Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported on Sunday that 35 people were killed and 152 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours. The new fatalities have brought the total death toll in Lebanon since March 2 to 2,055, with 6,588 individuals injured.

Among the casualties are 252 women and 165 children, with 1,120 and 644 others injured, respectively. The strikes have continued to devastate Lebanon, following Hezbollah’s cross-border attack on March 2, which sparked the escalation of regional tensions after a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Saturday to intensify attacks on Lebanon unless Hezbollah is disarmed and a peace agreement, “that endures for generations,” is achieved.

In response, Lebanon’s presidency confirmed that a meeting between Beirut and Tel Aviv would take place in Washington on April 14, a move that has been sharply criticized by Hezbollah.
