Lebanon Says Over Ten Thousand Homes Destroyed, Damaged

(MENAFN) More than 10,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed in Lebanon since a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hezbollah, according to the head of the country’s National Council for Scientific Research.

CRNS chief Chadi Abdallah said that since the ceasefire began, 5,386 housing units were completely destroyed and 5,246 were damaged, describing the figures during a televised news briefing.

Despite the April 17 ceasefire, Lebanese officials report continued Israeli airstrikes and military activity in southern Lebanon, including operations near a designated buffer zone north of the Israel-Lebanon border. Lebanese authorities say these actions have contributed to ongoing civilian displacement and infrastructure damage.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that **hundreds have been killed and over a thousand injured** since the ceasefire period began, describing the situation as a continued pattern of strikes despite the truce. Humanitarian organizations have also reported significant impacts on children and emergency responders.

Lebanese officials characterize the ceasefire as unstable, citing repeated violations and continued civilian casualties. The overall death toll from the broader conflict, according to Lebanese sources, includes thousands of fatalities since hostilities escalated.

Hezbollah leadership has rejected calls to disarm and has warned of intensified retaliation, while maintaining that its military actions are responses to ongoing Israeli operations. Talks involving international mediation are ongoing, but tensions remain high on the ground despite diplomatic efforts.
