Nine Syrian Refugees Killed in Israeli Airstrike on Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) An Israeli airstrike tore through a residential home in southern Lebanon on Saturday, killing nine Syrian refugees from a single family — among them six children — in one of the deadliest single strikes on civilians in the region in recent weeks, Lebanese authorities confirmed.

Lebanese state news agency reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a house sheltering civilians in the town of Adloun, located near the southern city of Sidon (Saida). The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that all bodies recovered from the wreckage belonged to the same family.

The deadly strike comes despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on April 17 — subsequently extended for an additional 45 days beginning May 17 following indirect negotiations brokered by the US — under which Israel has continued to carry out attacks on Lebanese territory.

No immediate comment from the Israeli military was available at the time of reporting.
