Israel Tightens Northern Restrictions Amid Escalation from Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its Home Front Command had introduced stricter safety measures in border-adjacent areas. These include the closure of all schools for at least two days in communities along the confrontation line with Lebanon, such as Nahariya and Kiryat Shmona.
Under the updated guidelines, public gatherings are now limited to a maximum of 50 people outdoors and 200 indoors, while only workplaces with approved protective infrastructure are allowed to operate.
Israel’s Health Ministry also confirmed that, due to the worsening security situation, the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya has relocated its inpatient wards to an underground facility within the hospital for safety reasons.
Throughout Saturday, Hezbollah reportedly fired rockets and drones toward northern Israel, with the range of attacks extending deeper into Israeli territory. No casualties were reported on the Israeli side.
In parallel developments, airstrikes and drone operations carried out by Israel across southern Lebanon late Friday and into Saturday reportedly killed at least 15 people and injured several others, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Although a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect in April, both sides have continued to exchange hostilities, with Israel conducting frequent strikes in Lebanon and Hezbollah targeting Israeli military positions.
