Israeli Airstrike Kills Eight, Injures Dozens in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon killed eight people and injured 19 others early Monday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, in what officials described as another violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The ministry said the strike hit the area of Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh governorate. It added that among the dead were three women, while the wounded included five children and six women.

The attack came just one day after Lebanese authorities reported that at least 12 people were killed and dozens more injured in separate Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon.

Despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was later extended for 45 days starting May 17 following indirect US-mediated talks, Israeli forces have continued carrying out strikes in Lebanon, according to reports.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed more than 3,400 people across the country.
