Paramedic Killed in Israeli Drone Strike in S. Lebanon

(MENAFN) A paramedic was fatally struck by an Israeli drone in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported — a deadly blow to an already fragile ceasefire between the two nations.

The drone targeted the al-Ain neighborhood of Arab Salim town in the Nabatieh district, claiming the life of a paramedic affiliated with the Risala Scout Association, according to NNA. A second Israeli drone strike followed, hitting the Labbaneh neighborhood within the same town, the agency added. No immediate reports of further casualties or damage emerged from either incident.

The deadly strike lands just one day after Lebanese and Israeli officials wrapped up a fourth round of US-brokered negotiations in Washington, aimed at shoring up the ceasefire and resolving outstanding security disputes.

Israel has pressed ahead with near-daily airstrikes and ground operations across Lebanon despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was subsequently extended through early July. Since March 2, Israeli military action has killed 3,468 people and wounded 10,577 others nationwide, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.

Israel continues to occupy multiple areas of southern Lebanon — including territories held for decades alongside land seized during the 2023–24 conflict — while its forces have pushed several kilometers deeper into Lebanese territory amid the ongoing hostilities.
